Cabinet May Restrict Grain Export

KYIV, June 14, 2007. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Agricultural Policy Viktor Slauta admits that grain export operations may be restricted as of July 1, 2007. He believes the Cabinet of Ministers may adopt a final decision on the matter at its meeting on June 20 after studying the nation’s balance of grain crops.

 

KrymKhlib Privatization Suspended

SIMFEROPOL, June 14, 2007. The State Property Fund (SPF) of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has adopted a decision to suspend the tender for sale of 25 percent + 1 share of OJSC KrymKhlib, as follows from a press statement the Crimean SPF made. The announcement does not explain any reasons behind the decision.

KYIV, June 14, 2007. Ukraine invites investors and partners that have experience and technology and are interested in doing a business in the sphere of alternative energy, said Yuriy Boiko, Minister of Energy Industry of Ukraine.

CPI Growth to Remain Unchanged

KYIV, June 14, 2007. The Ukrainian Ministry of Economy forecasts that in June the index of consumer prices (CPI) will grow by 0.6 percent, the same level of growth as recorded in May, as follows from a press statement the ministry made with reference to Valeriy Muntiyan, Deputy Minister of Economy.

 

Court Rulings to Be Signed on Time

KYIV, June 14, 2007. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has endorsed a law introducing amendments to the Arbitral Proceedings Code which concern the term of signing court rulings, the president’s press office reported.

 

President Vetoes 10 Laws

KYIV, June 14, 2007. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has vetoed 10 laws and returned them to the Parliament along with his suggestions for repeat consideration. Roman Zvarych, President’s Resident Representative to the Parliament, will present the suggestions, the president’s press office reported.

 

Bread Prices up Hr0.20 in Dnipropetrovsk

DNIPROPETROVSK, June 14, 2007. Prices for all types of bread have increased by an average of Hr0.20 per loaf in the trade network of Dnipropetrovsk. Local bakeries refused to comment on the increase.

 

Interior Ministry Undergoing Probe

KYIV, June 14, 2007. The Ukrainian Public Prosecutor-General’s Office has started six criminal cases upon the results of inspections conducted at the Ministry of Interior by the Main Control and Revision Office. The preparation of materials concerning four criminal cases is near completion, and inquiries concerning several tens of other episodes of unlawful activity are being prepared.

 

Mobile Phone Chattering May Be Banned

KYIV, June 14, 2007. The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Tourism has come with the initiative of developing a bill that would prohibit people from disturbing others by speaking over the mobile phone.
